Liebster Blog Nomination Post

Thanks to Leanne for nominating me for a Liebster blog award. I'm informed it's an award for bloggers with a fledgling following of less than 200 followers. As per the rules I enclose 11 facts about myself and answers to the questions from my nominator! :)

11 Facts about me.
1. I'm an Aquarius.
2. Proud owner of an auburn barnet. And when I say auburn, I mean auburn, not ginger in denial!
3. I enjoy crafting, particularly felt making and embroidery.
4. I sleep with a piece of black tourmaline under my pillow as I suffer from waking nightmares and night terrors.
5. Meditation and yoga are part of my weekly routine.
6. I don't have internet at my flat.
7. I'm a sucker for pictures of cute animals or fluffy toys.
8. Murder She Wrote is the only TV show I will usually choose to watch. I also own a season 1-6 box set.
9. I was a nail biter until earlier this year, now I get stupidly annoyed when I brake a nail!
10. I was underwhelmed by recent Mercury Prize winners Alt-J when I saw them live at Latitude 2012. Sorry.
11. I have climbed an actual mountain. Well, I trekked to Machu Picchu. That counts.

1. Why do you blog?
I have a few dead blogs from the past but my current blog is so that I can share my work with my fellow writer's in The Circle.

2. What inspires you?
Anything and everything. I have a twisted imagination.

3. What advice would you give your sixteen-year-old self?
When your French Teacher shouts at you, in frustration, "Are you dyslexic or something?!" Really, you should probably get tested. Because I have looked into it and it's freaking expensive to do as an adult!!

4. What's the nicest thing anyone has ever said about your work?
It's not what she said but the way she said "It was so amazing." with tears welling up in her eyes after hearing a rehearsed reading one of my plays. Really moved me.

5. What's the worst criticism you've ever received? Did it spur you on to better things?
My  A Level English teacher wrote on my practice essay, "This is not a passing grade". Personally I would rate her criticism a big fat F! I failed her module out of spite and passed the others - I liked the other teacher more. Take that UK Education league tables!!!

6. Art, music, poetry - why are these things important?
They  are a reflection of our selves and our societies - a forum for the discussion of our passions, fears and the problems that we face every day.

7. What would you like to be doing in five years time?
I chose to live in the moment, that's probably why I don't have a proper career plan or  job related to my degree. I'll still be writing though.

8. What is your favorite color?
Purple, I like to think of it as a power color. Like a 'power suit' from the 80s. Just imagine a purple suit... wow!

9. When is a door not a door?
Have you been borrowing my Dad's joke book?

10. What was the worst job you ever had, and what did you learn from it?
I once worked in a baby store, I had to empty out the tins of baby grub that were either dented or out of date. My scarred knuckle reminds me I learnt not to stick your finger in an open can. Oh and to hold your breath when feeding children. Urg.

11. Who would win in a fight: a bear or a lion?
If it were one lion, I would say a bear. If it were a pack of lionesses I would say lion.

  1. Just got round to reading this, interesting stuff. You're a girl after my own heart with the Murder, She Wrote box set! (Although I only have seasons 1-3!) My favourite one is the one where the murderer trains the door to press a button that shuts the gate, crushing the victim to death. Which is no where near as gory as it sounds. Also love the ones where Angela Lansbury plays her own 'English' cousin. Excellent accents all round!

I'm quite interested in the black tourmaline, does it work for you, do you think?
